

Breathology
Describing the techniques that enhance the Spirit, Mind and Body
BREATHOLOGY™ is the art and science of breath awareness and the application of breathing techniques that enhance the Spirit, Mind and Body. A “Breathologists” is an expert, specialist, coach, teacher, facilitator or practitioner of the modality of Breathology.
The term(s) “Breathology” and “Breathologists” were concepts coined and developed by Ayo Handy-Kendi in 2004. She began meditating with the breath as early as 1970, then studied other energy practices that utilized breath. She became a Certified Transformational Breath Facilitator (CTBF) in 1996. Although a degreed counselor and community organizer, for years, she had struggled with substance addiction to cope with early childhood emotional and sexual abuse. Self-healing came through TB which helped change her life and thereafter, she passionately studied deep breathing, other breath techniques and breath mechanics. Through continued study, practice, research along with facilitation to millions on radio, t.v, in print; public presentations and in private practice – she consistently observed people’s outstanding results from applying the simple fundamentals of deep breathing and many other breath techniques. This awareness helped her recognize that students who studied the many paths of the breath, who engaged in the mechanics of breath and its’ many applications - needed a term that identified this practice.
“Breathology” gives such an identification as a specific modality apart from the generally-used, broad-based term “Breathwork’ which also is the term used for the breath modality that affects non-ordinary states of consciousness for healing, energy or transformative work.

THE IMPORTANCE OF OPTIMUM BREATHING
With all that is going on in the world today, one of the most critical tools that we can learn is better BREATHING to be better at all that we do.

without water for 21 or more days; without food for 48 or more days; but without
breathing that brings in the vital oxygen meal, we live not much longer than 6- 8 minute
