Eugene Brown - Life Of A King Trailer

DCTV member Eugene Brown was the subject of the Hollywood feature film "If I Were King"-- his character played by award-winning actor Cuba Gooding, Jr. The movie tells the true life story of Mr. Brown, who turned his life around through chess and passed on the game's valuable life lesson by teaching underprivileged youth in Washington, DC. "I have been a member of DCTV for two decades," Brown told us. "DCTV has given me a platform to showcase chess and bring awareness to the benefits of chess in our school and community based programs," he continued. "I use chess to shape my personal vision of teaching the un-teachable and reaching the un-reachable. I decided back in the mid 1990's to host and sponsor the "Always Think B4Umove" program to illustrates the parallels of life and chess. DCTV has helped me reach the entire DC community. Viewers are able to relate to something positive going on right in their own neighborhoods. DCTV has contributed to making everyone become part of the chess community," concluded Brown.
